Nearby Towns

Welcome to the best of both worlds. Cornelius has a small town feel, but plenty of amenities including the expansive Lake Norman. The views are stunning from both boat and shore.

Davidson is home to Davidson College, a Presbyterian college circa 1837. Throughout the year the Town Green is host to concerts and festivals of all sorts. For a great walk, park your car and wander under the old oaks of the college campus.

Don’t feel like traveling all the way to Charlotte? Huntersville boasts name brand shopping and fine dining. Birkdale Village is your one-stop shop whether you’re in search of a gift or just treating yourself.

Destinations

Just twenty minutes down the road, Charlotte offers plenty of big city perks. Enjoy theater and a gourmet dinner uptown or spend the day shopping at Southpark Mall.

North Carolina’s favorite mountain towns. Foodies and outdoor enthusiasts alike will enjoy roaming the streets and trails of the Blue Ridge.

The state capital, Raleigh is home to a burgeoning arts and culture scene. Check out nearby Carrboro, Chapel Hill and Durham.

A true southern gem. Charleston takes its visitors back to the Antebellum South in its street markets and with walks along the Battery.

Home to the busiest airport in the United States, Atlanta is truly metropolitan. If you aren’t in town just to jet to Europe, it’s worth exploring Atlanta’s comprehensive High Museum of Art or walking through Centennial Park, home to the 1996 Olympics.

Savannah will fight Charleston for the title of “Sweetest Little City in the South.” Don’t miss the Spanish Moss-lined Jones Street. It’s beautiful by horse-drawn carriage or on foot.

Just over the border in Tennessee, Knoxville fosters a rich history with seven historic Civil War and First Frontier homes. Don’t miss the Dogwood Arts Festival in April, a 17-day celebration of local art and culture.

Beaches

As part of the Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach is part of 60 miles of sandy white beaches along the beautiful, blue Atlantic Ocean. You’ll also enjoy the thrills of the world’s most challenging and aesthetically beautiful golf courses.

Just north of Savannah, Hilton Head is one of South Carolina’s most popular beach communities. A golfer’s paradise, enjoy one of the 24 public courses Hilton Head has to offer.

Folly Beach is a quiet retreat just minutes from Charleston. Spend the day on the beach and the evening at a downtown eatery.

From the historic downtown river district and Riverwalk that winds around the storied Cape Fear River to 3 colorful island beaches, Wilmington and her beach towns, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Wrightsville Beach, all charm visitors any time of the year.

More commonly seen as “OBX,” this is a series of beaches in the northern half of the state. The Outerbanks are famous for their sand dunes off which the Wright Brothers flew their first flight.

Shopping

Birkdale is the North Mecklenburg shopping and dining haven. At Birkdale you can eat a filet or grab a Starbucks, treat yourself to a new outfit or get lost in a book at Barnes and Noble. And, when you’re exhausted from your shopping, catch a movie at Regal Cinemas.

You’ll find big box favorites Kohl’s and Target here along with other local shops and restaurants.

Concord Mills is surprisingly the number one tourist attraction in North Carolina. Seminal favorites here include Bass Pro Shop, Off Saks 5th Avenue and NASCAR Speedpark.

Northlake has most everything if you can’t make it to Southpark.

The region’s most comprehensive shopping experience. Southpark is home to the only Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus in the area.

Golf

A popular public course, Birkdale is a quick ride from Bailey’s Glen. Enjoy lunch at a Birkdale Village restaurant or bar after your round.

This 18-hole Championship course, designed by Clifton, Ezell, and Clifton, has been rated both the best and the toughest public golf course in the Charlotte area. Designed with extra care to preserve the natural beauty of the area, Highland Creek Golf Club winds through towering trees and meandering creeks.

Located in Denver, Westport offers a great annual membership plan and affordable daily fee rates to the golfing public.

Rocky River Golf Club located within a mile of the Concord Mills Mall, and the Charlotte Motor Speedway, this public Golf Club is convenient to get to and is a very peaceful setting for a day on the links.

Northstone County Club is located in Huntersville. Just a few short miles from our community. This private, P.B. Dye-designed course was ranked “Number One” by Charlotte Business Journal.

Greg Norman designed this spectacular, private course located lakeside in The Pointe neighborhood in Mooresville.

Cornelius’ crown jewel course located within the Peninsula community. Memberships are available for golf and other luxury amenities.

River Run Davidson’s member-only golf club. Experience the country club lifestyle at River Run, home to one of the most exceptional 18-hole golf courses in the Carolinas. Members enjoy 7,300 well-manicured yards of Bermuda fairways and Champions Ultra Dwarf greens year round.

Skybrook offers memberships to non-residents and privileges at partner course, Charlotte Golf Links. The course is open to the public.

Arts & Culture

The Mint is the largest art museum in the region, with three different sites housing its collection of fine arts and crafts.

NASCAR’s Hall of Fame is right at home in “NASCAR Valley.” The Charlotte area is home to seventy-three percent of NASCAR-related businesses. If you aren’t into racing, take at least one trip to the Hall of Fame to witness one of I.M. Pei’s many architectural masterpieces.

This performing arts group manages a host of uptown theater and music venues including the Belk Theater and Spirit Square. Nationally-recognized performances like Wicked and the Lion King make stops at these venues.

A short drive to Charlotte will find you in this history museum focusing on life in the North Carolina Piedmont after the American Civil War. Within the building, enjoy excellent New Orleans-inspired American cuisine at restaurant E2, owned by Emeril Lagasse.

Journey through history with one of the most influential voices of the 20th century.Through state-of-the-art multimedia exhibits, films, and memorabilia, you’ll relive the historic moments of his life.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is the Carolinas’ Garden for all seasons. Located within 380 acres on the banks of Lake Wylie, spectacular gardens, sparkling fountains, a conservatory dedicated to the display of tropical plants and orchids, a visitor pavilion, gift shop and nature walk await the visitor.

Health Care

Now operated by Novant Health, Presbyterian has been named one of the 50 “Best Hospitals” in America by Becker’s Review. Based on national hospital rankings for quality patient care, Presbyterian Medical joins the 50 best list along with nationally renowned centers such as Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, and Mayo Clinic.

CMC is a world class facility that offers a full range of services. It’s campus includes the Levine Cancer Institute’s academic and research headquarters, Carolinas Rehabilitation, and Levine Children’s Hospital. It is the largest research hospital in the region and is a Medicare-approved transplant center in kidney, pancreas, liver and heart.

This Mooresville Medical Center provides clinical care using advanced technology. The campus encompasses a 123-bed hospital, orthopedic specialty center, and outpatient surgery center, comprehensive women’s center, a surgical center for weight loss, and four medical office buildings.

Sports

You’re in good company, race fans. Charlotte Motor Speedway is one of the key stops on the Sprint Cup Series. Stop by the NASCAR Hall of Fame in uptown to catch up on your car racing history.

The Carolinas’ only NFL team, the Panthers arrived in town in 1995. Said to have some of the friendliest fans in the sport, you can often catch a Panthers’ fan saying, “This year will be our year.”

North Carolina basketball legend Michael Jordan is the majority owner of this NBA Team. Loyal fans rejoice! In the fall of 2014 the team name will revert to the original “Hornets” name.

Lovers of baseball will enjoy watching Charlotte’s Triple-A team play, as well as the fireworks after many games. The Knights stadium is located in heart of uptown Charlotte.

Outdoors

The public is welcome at this Olympic training center. The Whitewater Center isn’t just for rafters though. Spend time rock climbing or zip-lining and finish the afternoon with some live music.

The Appalachian Trail cuts through the middle of this beauty, the most visited national park in the United States. FDR dedicated this UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1940.

This mountain hamlet is home to darling B and B’s and a charming Main Street full of galleries and shops. Be sure to see nearby natural beauties Linville Caverns and Grandfather Mountain.
